| MICHAEL ADDISON NEW ALBUM "BLINDING SHADOWS" OUT OCTOBER 2:
Michael Addison is set to release his first full-length album Blinding Shadows on October 2nd, 2012. Reeling from the success he garnered from his last EP "Always You" and the single of the same name, he hit the studio with producer Larry Marciano at the helm, to create a truly powerful rock album that magnifies Addison's talent for rock arrangements. Addison returned to the studio with the same team from his previous go-round. Christine Wu (Justin Timberlake/Usher) and Ryan Hoyle (Collective Soul), as well as newcomers, vocalist's Adam Brooks (of TV's "The Lying Game" and the band The Good Mad) and Vanessa Bryan each exhibit exceptional contributions. The 13-tracks that make up "Blinding Shadows" are full of a raw hard-rock energy, intense vocals layered over building drums and invigorating electric guitar solos, leaving Addison exposed and explosive with this heavy new direction. Addison tackles a huge sound with dedication and an ear for honesty. There is no doubt that "Blinding Shadows" pushes Addison to greater heights as an artist and songwriter, making this his best collection of songs to date! The radio ready first single, "Alone" is a song of desperation, the dark undertones contrast wildly to the tingling pop of the guitar and the understated flow of his vocals, amplified by the driving drum beats. The hook of the chorus draws the listener in, leaving them captivated by the story and moving to the lush and colorful sounds that are drawn together perfectly through the harmonic highs and lows. "Never Look Back" is the quintessential rock sound that defines this album, with brash drums and a rousing chorus, it hits hard from the very first second and continues to build. The electric guitar solo shines, one of many throughout an album built on solid rock tracks, and the harmonic choruses featuring Adam Brooks are enticingly crafted and all together aurally pleasing. The rock sound gets heavier on "Tell Me Lies," where Addison uses the lowest range of his voice to express the dark emotions alluded to in the hauntingly sad lyrics. It's a raw and sparse song, highlighted by a brash chorus and a grungy guitar, all coming together in a volcanic melodic climax. Shining brightly on this track is Vanessa Bryan's pristine vocals adding a new dimension of hopelessness, making for an exceptionally beautiful yet deep rock track. "You Tonight" sets itself apart from the rock-heavy sound, a bounce in the uplifting chorus and a positive shift in the lyrics, it harkens back to what people loved from Addison's debut. One of few love songs on the album, it solidifies that Addison's songwriting has grown with this solid pop-esque song that's enriched with a rock edge. The final track on the album is a remixed version of the fan favorite "Always You" off of Addison's debut album, it has just enough of the new sound within to make it fit with the flow of "Blinding Shadows". The inclusion of this final song is a testament to the growth Addison has experienced and the ways in which he's carried it into his new sound.
"Blinding Shadows" is a stellar release that fans and critics will love. "Blinding Shadows" will be released on October 2. Check out and download Michael Addison's first single "Alone" - soundcloud.com/mt-press/michael-addison-alone. More on Michael Addison: www.addisonm.com.
