FORMER BAD SISTER SINGER PETRA DEGELOW DIED AT AGE OF 53:
Press Statement from Bad Sister: "We regret to inform you of the death of our former lead singer Petra Degelow.
She died in the morning of May 23th in the age of 53 after long
illness in a hospital near Hamburg. Petra was a member of Bad Sister
from 1982 - 1992 and recorded two albums with the band. "We are all deeply shocked and saddened by Petra's death", the band said on Sunday. "She was a great singer, a powerful entertainer and a lovely person".
Petra Degelow was born on January 29th, 1960 in Uetersen near
Hamburg/Germany. In her youth she lived several years in Africa (Kenya,
Uganda) and returned to Germany in the Seventies. She joined Bad Sister
in 1982 and recorded the albums "Heartbreaker" (1989) and "Out Of The
Business" (1991) with the band and did a hundred of gigs and support
acts (e.g. Wacken Open Air, support Ian Gillan). She was well known in
the AOR and Melodic Hard Rock scene for her powerful voice and her great
stage performance.
The last time Petra worked with the band was 2008. Petra recorded the
song "Talk To You Later" from the album "Because Rust Never Sleeps"
(2009). She will be missed, but never forgotten."
