| Lightning Raiders - Sweet Revenge / In a just and righteous world it would be satisfying to report that the Lightning Raiders rose from humble beginnings to take the world by storm, notching up sell out tours and a string of platinum albums, with their faces splashed across the front cover of every music magazine. Sadly, none of those achievements materialised but, amongst a select few, the Lightning Raiders were cherished far more than the biggest rock stars in the world. Based in West London, the Lightning Raiders carved out a serious reputation during the early 80s as an uncompromising quartet that took every opportunity to tear down barriers and set fire to tradition. Half punk, half metal and blessed with an anything goes attitude, the band's live reputation for militant confrontation soon turned into an anything can happen in the next half hour kind of event. With musical links to Motorhead, the Pink Fairies, the Sex Pistols, Kilburn & The High Roads and many more, their reputation for setting the stage on fire was second to none. Signed by Island Records, the band recorded tracks for their debut album at the Who's Ramport Studios, only to find half way through that the label's direction had changed and that they were no longer considered part of the plan. The eight songs on this record are the surviving mixed tracks from those sessions, giving us a taste of what would have been if the band had been allowed to continue on their path to fame and fortune. 24-bit mastering from original source tapes, previously un released album, features members of the Pink Fiaries and the Sex Pistols, 3,500 word essay about the making of the album, new interview and previously unseen photos all spread out over a 12 page full colour booklet.
