JOURNEY TO INFINITY: NEAL SCHON, GREGG ROLIE, STEVE PERRY REVEAL 1978 BREAKTHROUGH:
Dallas, TX - February 20, 2013. North American syndicated Rock radio show InTheStudio: The Stories Behind History's Greatest Rock Bands celebrates the 35th anniversary of Infinity, the make-or-break 4th album from San Francisco bay area rockers Journey.
With Infinity came a new singer and songwriter to the mix, Steve Perry,
whose natural frontman skills only further mapped the band's road to
success.
Famed producer Roy Thomas Baker was added to the project helping
turn "Wheel In The Sky", "Lights", "Feeling That Way" and "Anytime" into
future FM radio gold. But as co-founder/guitarist Neal Schon explains to InTheStudio program host Redbeard, things were looking more than dire to that point.
"I think that everybody's feeling at the time was, 'Look it, we're
all starving to death', you know? And 'it's time we gotta start making a
living at this' or I was going to have to get a job selling ladies
shoes or something. We just decided, 'Well maybe we should look for a
singer or something, maybe we need a frontman... We need something else
for people to focus on to make this work."
