Halestorm

Halestorm est un groupe américain de
hard rock originaire de Red Lion en Pennsylvanie, et qui comprend
notamment la chanteuse et guitariste Lizzy Hale.

Signé par Atlantic Records, le groupe a publié son premier album éponyme en avril 2009.

Leur second disque, "The strange case of…" est sorti au mois d'avril
2012. Comme le précédent, l’album est produit par Howard Benson
(Daughtry, My Chemical Romance, Flyleaf).

Halestorm ont commencé à composer et
interpréter leurs chansons a partir de 1997, à l'époque Arejay et Lzzy
(qui sont frère et sœur) avaient 10 et 13 ans. Dans ce premier line up,
le père de Lzzy et Arejay occupait le poste de bassiste avant que Josh
Smith rejoignent le groupe. Ils réussirent ainsi à occuper trois fois la
couverture de Pennsylvania Musician.

Le groupe décrocha un contrat chez
Atlantic Records le 28 juin 2005. Un EP live : One and Done fut réalisé
cette année-là. L'EP comportait une version live de "It's Not You" et
n'est actuellement plus edité. À la suite de cet EP, ils entamèrent une
tournée à travers les États-Unis de janvier à mars 2006 sur Sno-Core
Tour avec Seether, Shinedown, et Flyleaf. Après cela, le groupe repartit
sur les routes mi-juillet 2006 pour le Equinox Tour avec Shinedown,
Trapt, Evans Blue, et Mercy Fall.





En septembre 2007, Halestorm apparut durant l'émission The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

En 2009, Halestorm repartit en tournée avec Chevelle, Adelitas Way, et Shinedown.

Leur premier véritable album sortit le
28 avril 2009. James Michael aida d'ailleurs a écrire une chanson :
"What Were You Expecting." La chanson "I Get Off" fut le premier single
de l'album et fut joué sur de nombreuses radios américaines. Le second
single : "It's Not You" et son clip sortirent en novembre 2009, il fut
extrêmement bien accueilli dans le milieu radiophonique et sur Youtube
au vu du nombre de clic sur le channel de Atlantic Records.

Du 15 novembre au 13 décembre 2010, le
groupe participe au célèbre festival de metal Taste of Chaos Tour en
Europe aux côtés de Papa Roach, Disturbed et Buckcherry.

HALESTORM vocalist Lzzy Hale is featured in a new interview with Skylar
Osovski at the Norfolk Daily News. An excerpt is available below:





This past spring, Halestorm made history by becoming the first-ever
female-fronted band to reach No. 1 on the active rock radio airplay
chart with its single 'Love Bites (So Do I)'.


The song is featured on Halestorm’s second full-length album, The Strange Case Of . . . — a project that Hale found satisfying.


“We put a lot of ourselves into our sophomore record, and the result
was something very organic,” Hale said. “We weren’t thinking about what
anyone else wanted it to sound like. We fought to make it our own way.”


That fighting spirit has attracted thousands of followers,
encouraging Hale and her fellow bandmates to keep doing what they love.


“It’s very moving when you get physical, handwritten letters from
people because you know what they’re expressing is coming from the
heart,” Hale said. “One of the biggest things I’ve learned is that the
fans inspire us, and I’m happy to represent them through our music.”

HALESTORM Vocalist Lzzy Hale On Grammy Nomination - "A Personal Victory For The Four Of Us"




Earlier this week Pennsylvania rockers HALESTORM were nominated for a
Grammy Award in the category Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance for their
song 'Love Bites (So Do I)'. IRON MAIDEN, ANTHRAX, MEGADETH, LAMB OF GOD
and MARILYN MANSON were also nominated.





Loudwire.com caught up with vocalist Lzzy Hale to discuss the nomination:


Hale: "It’s crazy, it means a lot considering the rock/metal
performance category – it’s kind of like a personal victory for the four
of us. The performance of our live shows, that’s what we love most.
It’s really neat, we’re extremely humbled by it, we had no idea. In
fact, I wasn’t even paying attention (laughs) to the nominees for the
past couple years — that doesn’t happen to bands like us! I never
expected it, but it’s really cool though — we actually found out in the
middle of a show, so I got to announce it onstage and the crowd went
crazy. I’m just so happy about it, it’s very cool. It’s just one of
those things that you never expect to happen. You think about it when
you’re a little kid: 'Oh it would be cool to get a Grammy,' and then it
happens and you’re like 'Wow, who screwed up?' (laughs)"


Loudwire: Not many females have been nominated for hard rock and
metal Grammys. Have you thought about the gender aspect and does it feel
like you’re representing women in rock?


Hale: "Definitely, I’m also really honored to be the only chick in
this category right now (laughs) — it’s really neat. I think just in the
past year there have been so many girls that come to our shows who are
basically saying, 'It gives me so much encouragement because you’re
doing this and that means I can, too.' I’m happy to be holding that flag
at the moment for all of the much more talented young girls that are
going to be coming up behind me – it’s neat to be representin'."
