AC/DC's Loudest Live Memories - The Top Ten Countdown; #1
In celebration of Angus and Co.'s forthcoming live album, Live At River Plate, BraveWords is counting-down something we like to call...AC/DC's Top Ten Most Thunderstruck, Jacked Up, Dog Eat Dog Live Stands Of All Time! Horns up and knickers down!
And we've finally made it to #1!!!
#1 - Toronto Rocks, Toronto, Canada - July 30, 2003
Billed as a boost to tourism and morale after the SARS outbreak (read more here), Toronto Rocks‚ euphemistically known as SarsStock‚ brought 450,000 fans to a sunny day and warm night at a decommissioned army base to the west of the city for a fest that included headliners THE ROLLING STONES, RUSH, THE GUESS WHO, THE TEA PARTY, FLAMING LIPS, BLUE RODEO and the ridiculous addition of JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE (pelted by bottles of piss no-less!). Our heroes AC/DC played second to last and magic was in ample supply as the band hit the stage in stride just as the sun was going down. After all was said and done, it is widely considered that the Aussies blew the Rolling Stones off the stage, bravely opening their 12 song set with 'Hell Ain't A Bad Place To Be' and closing with 'Highway To Hell', clearly the apex of a long, long day of hot summer rock.
(Note: our own Martin Popoff dealt with the crowds and attended this benefit while "Metal" Tim was literally flying overhead around dinner time on his way to Wacken!)
Line-up:
Angus Young - lead guitar
Malcolm Young - rhythm guitar
Brian Johnson- vocals
Cliff Williams - bass
Phil Rudd - drums
AC/DC's setlist:
