STEEL PANTHER Drummer Stix Zadinia - "If We Sound Misogynistic, It Is Out Of Love For The Ladies"
Tom Conway at South Bend Tribune recently caught up with Stx Zadinia,
drummer for glam god pardody band
STEEL PANTHER. An excerpt from the
story is available below:
Steel Panther is so exaggerated in its sexism with such songs as
'Asian Hooker' and '17 Girls In A Row' that it comes off as funny, not
offensive. At least, Zadinia says he hasn’t heard any complaints.
“If we sound misogynistic, it is out of love for the ladies,” he says. “They seem to love us often and with a lot of fervor.”
Most of the bands that Steel Panther makes fun of in its act are
fans of the group. Tommy Lee of MÖTLEY CRÜE may be the sole exception,
tweeting that the band is “weird.” In fact, Vivian Campbell, guitarist
for
DEF LEPPARD, will appear on Steel Panther’s as-yet-untitled third
album.
“If you liked Feel the Steel and Balls Out, you will love this
record,” Zadinia says of the next album, scheduled for a fall release.
“It is more heavy metal songs that are hooky and great and fun and make
you want to rock and make you want to have a good time and party. Also,
there is a lot of riffage on this album that I think anybody who has
ever questioned this band — ‘Oh, those guys wear spandex and it is
2000-whatever’ — these songs are going to put all of that to rest.”
