| STRYPER - "If You Liked The Covering, You'll Love Second Coming" STRYPER frontman Michael Sweet has checked in with the following update with regards to the band's new album, Second Coming: "Why did we re-record old songs? That's a multiple answer question. First, because we wanted to cut out the middle men and have a little more control over our own songs. Second, we wanted to 'fix' some things that have annoyed the 'hell' out of us for the past 30 years such as: no bass in the mix of The Yellow And Black Attack or Soldiers Under Command, and no Tim on the mix of To Hell With The Devil. The fact that I sound a little more like a man instead of a helium induced kid at Disneyland :-) The sheer joy of still loving these songs and still being able to perform these songs (well, we'll let the experts be the judge of that). And last but not certainly least? We did it just because we wanted to :-) So there you go, the mystery is over and the reasons have been revealed. Seriously, we're really excited about this record. It's one of the few re-records that I believe will stand against any of the originals if not surpass them. If you liked The Covering, you'll love Second Coming!" The new album will be released on March 22nd via Frontiers Records. The tracklist is as follows: 'Soldiers Under Command'
'Makes Me Wanna Sing'
'Reach Out'
'Loving You'
'Loud 'N' Clear'
'The Rock That Makes Me Roll'
'Calling On You'
'First Love'

| STRYPER Frontman Michael Sweet - "I've Been Trying To 'Re-Establish' Myself As A Guitar Player" STRYPER frontman Michael Sweet recently spoke with Guitar World about the band's new album, Second Coming, as well as his forthcoming book and solo album. An excerpt from the interview is available below: Guitar World: What was the genesis of Second Coming? Sweet: "Initially, we intended to make this record for our publishing company. Usually, people tend to roll their eyes at the thought of doing re-records because you’re already used to the original and sometimes think, 'What's the point?' Typically, it’s hard to recapture the same magic you had on the originals. But what's cool about these songs and this record is that not only were we able to capture all the magic from the original songs, but in some ways surpass and add some new magic to them as well. When people hear this album as a whole, they're going to be blown out of the water." Guitar World: You also handle some of the solo guitar duties on this album. Sweet: "I do. I've been trying to 're-establish' myself as a guitar player. For some reason, people don't know I play to the level I play at. In Stryper, I'm one of the lead guitar players. It's split right down the middle. Oz (Fox) is an amazing player and deserves a lot of credit, but for the two new tracks on Second Coming and on my solo record, I'm playing the solos. It was my opportunity to shine as a guitar player and remind people that I play. I actually started playing guitar long before I started singing and write everything on guitar. It's one of my favorite parts of the process in the studio." | STRYPER - "Sorry Piano, You're Not Needed On This Record" STRYPER began recording their eighth full length album on April 2nd, and they have checked in with another brief studio update: "Sorry piano, your not needed on this record. The guitars voted and you were voted out:-) Yes, there's still a ballad..." Frontman Michael Sweet recently posted the following message to the fans: "I'd like to ask all of you to continue to pray for the band and the process of recording what we hope and pray will be our best and most powerful record to date. God is in control and He could take a band like us, a record like this, and do things that have never been done before. I've seen God work first hand and many things have happened over the years with Stryper that are nothing short of miraculous! I pray that this record will have the power, message and energy that all the others have had combined, so much so that it's undeniable to anyone that hears it. People ask all the time if our faith is still intact, if we still believe, if we're still a Christian band and the answer is a loud n' clear - YES! More so than ever before. We're a little tired, beat up and exhausted from the past 30 years but our heart's desire is to continue spreading God's love through the gifts, talents and abilities that He has blessed us with. God is leading the way, not any one of us. God bless you for your undying support, belief and encouragement for all that we have done and all that we do. This record can be our best record yet and we appreciate your prayers. We love you guys and could not have made it this far without you. Love and respect to all of you, always!!!
